So you've decided to find the perfect canine companion to share your time with, congratulations!
Before stepping into ownership of a dog, you should be well prepared and understand the time & effort dogs require. They look cute as puppies in the pet shop window but owning a dog is not far different from adding a family member and need plenty of care. In return you get unconditional love, loyalty and a friend for a lifetime that will be by your side.
A lot of people have different reasons for buying a dog. It's probably fair to say that almost everyone seeks that companionship dogs bring into their lives. In addition to this, there are many reasons why a dog can be the perfect sidekick for you or your family:
- A fitness partner. Dogs love to get out and run around. Pick the right breed and you will have a really good fitness buddy to run with who will no doubt challenge you to get fitter and faster.
- Child development. Kids growing up with dogs may benefit with all the social interactions it can have with a friendly dog in the family.
- Personal security. Well trained dogs can be excellent guardians for the elderly or people that may require protection.
- Assistance. We all know of the fantastic job dogs do as helpers for people with disabilities such as the vision impared.
